West Lake Hills is the only city in Texas that sits entirely within a single school district: Eanes Independent School District. That geography is not accidental. Eanes ISD is routinely ranked among the top public school districts in Texas and is consistently one of the highest-performing districts in the state by virtually every metric used to measure academic outcomes. The district serves approximately 8,000 students across nine campuses, with student-to-teacher ratios and per-pupil expenditures that reflect the community's sustained investment in public education over generations.

Elementary students in West Lake Hills are zoned to Eanes Elementary, Bridge Point Elementary, Barton Creek Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary, or Forest Trail Elementary depending on their street address. Hill Country Middle School and West Ridge Middle School both serve the district's sixth through eighth graders, and Westlake High School is the single secondary destination for all Eanes ISD students. ATHLETICS AT WESTLAKE HIGH

Westlake High School and its Chaparrals are not merely a strong UIL program. They are one of the most decorated football programs in the history of Texas high school athletics, full stop. The Chaps have made 12 appearances in the UIL state championship game, won four titles outright, and under longtime head coach Todd Dodge ran a stretch of dominance from 2019 through 2023 that produced consecutive 6A state championships and an extended winning streak that became national news. The 2024 season continued that tradition: Westlake went 14-2, won the District 26-6A title for the second consecutive year, and advanced all the way to the 6A Division I state championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington before falling to North Crowley. That level of sustained playoff depth, year after year, in the largest and most competitive classification in Texas, is what separates Westlake from programs that win occasionally.

Football is the headline, but it is not the whole story. Westlake competes in volleyball, cross country, basketball, powerlifting, wrestling, swimming and diving, soccer, lacrosse, golf, tennis, track and field, water polo, baseball, softball, dance, and cheerleading. The swimming program is one of the strongest in AISD, producing state qualifiers on a regular basis.
