ATHLETICS AT AUSTIN HIGH

Austin High School fields one of the most comprehensive athletic programs in Central Texas. The Maroons compete in UIL District 26-6A, the highest classification level in Texas, with over 650 student athletes competing across 18 varsity sports and 5 club sports. The breadth is genuine: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, mountain biking, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling all field teams at the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity levels.

The Maroons have a storied history, and recent seasons have backed it up. The 2024 fall season was one of the most successful in the school's history, with football, volleyball, cross country, and water polo all earning UIL playoff berths. The swimming program has produced state qualifiers with regularity, and the boys water polo team made a deep state playoff run in 2024. The golf program recently debuted the Crenshaw Golf Academy on campus, a practice facility that includes trackman hitting bays and an augmented reality putting green built with support from Austin High alumnus Ben Crenshaw.
