ATHLETICS AT WESTLAKE HIGH

Westlake High School and the Chaparrals compete in UIL 6A, the highest classification in Texas high school athletics, and have built one of the most decorated football programs in the history of the state. The Chaps have appeared in 12 UIL state championship games, won four outright, and under head coach Todd Dodge ran consecutive 6A state championships in 2021 and 2022 with a winning streak that drew national attention. The 2024 season continued the standard: Westlake went 14-2, won the District 26-6A title for the second consecutive year, and reached the 6A Division I state championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. For Rollingwood families, Westlake football is a Friday night ritual in the fall, a short drive from the neighborhood to Chaparral Stadium with a student section and a parent following built across decades of sustained success.

Football is the headline but not the whole program. Westlake competes in volleyball, cross country, basketball, powerlifting, wrestling, swimming and diving, soccer, lacrosse, golf, tennis, track and field, water polo, baseball, softball, and more. The swimming program produces state qualifiers on a regular basis. The band has been named Texas State Honor Band three times. The orchestra fields six ensembles.
